Where it all began

Felix Späth and Susen Lösch are successful orienteerers from Germany and founded the WOVO 2017. But how did it all start?
“Susen, I want to go on a world trip and you need to come with me!” Felix said.

After many years of orienteering and a quite successful WOC in Sweden 2016 Susen had one requirement: to do orienteering on the trip. So easily the idea of an orienteering development project was born. The right point to start seemed to be the first official South American Championships 2016. In the following months we travelled through Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil and Ecuador and could help orienteering clubs nearly everywhere.

It was amazing to see how happy the people were about our knowledge and skills. We made maps for them, did training camps together and gave also mapping courses. So they could go on, after that we left. But there is still much work to do for them and all orienteerers can help them to make our sport even more attractive in their region. And that means everywhere in the world.

So now it’s on you to share your experiences and join the WOVO as a Volunteer or Club!
